An ontology model to represent aquaponics 4.0 system’s knowledge

Aquaponics, one of the vertical farming methods, is a combination aquaculture and hydroponics. To enhance production capabilities aquaponics system maximize crop yield on commercial level, integration Industry 4.0 technologies needed. strategic initiative characterized by fusion emerging such as big data analytics, internet things, robotics, cloud computing, artificial intelligence. The realization 4.0, however, requires an efficient flow due to presence complex biological processes. A key challenge in this essence deal with semantic heterogeneity multiple resources. An ontology that regarded normative tools solves interoperation problem describing, extracting, sharing domains’ knowledge. In field agriculture, several ontologies are developed for soil-based but so far, no attempt has been made represent knowledge form model. Therefore, study proposes unified model, AquaONT, store essential system. This provides mechanism reusing system’s solve problem. AquaONT built from indoor terminologies validated implemented considering experimental test cases related environmental parameters, design configuration, product quality. proposed model will help farm practitioners more transparent decision-making regarding production, quality, facility layout farm. For future work, decision support be using intelligence techniques autonomous data-driven decisions.
